2010 Social Work Blog Awards

Natalia over at Active Social Work has taken on the challenge of developing the very first awards just for social work bloggers! The purpose is two fold - 1) to reward a handful of Social Work Bloggers for their dedication and excellence and 2) to encourage other Social Workers to join in the community of writing and blogging about their experiences. And thus, the 2010 Social Work Blog Awards have been born!

The Process

The submitting stage will last until the 1st of September 2010, followed by the voting stage until the 31st of December 2010. And the results will be announced on the 1st of January 2011.

A few simple rules should be considered during the submitting stage:
All blogs should be for or by social workers.
All participants have the possibility of submitting up to four blogs per category.
Participants may submit their own blogs for consideration, once per category.
The four most submitted blogs will then give place to the final four nominees of each category.

Categories:

Adoption/Fostering: this category should include blogs written under the topic of adoption or fostering services.

Children and Families: this category should include blogs written under the topic of Children and Families social services.

Diary/Personal: this category should include blogs written by social workers or social work students who maintain a journal about their activities.

Educational: this category should include blogs written for or by social workers with educational value.

Informative/Policies: this category should include blogs of informative nature about social work policies, news, etc.

Learning and Physical Disabilities: this category should include blogs written under the topic of Learning and Physical Disabilities.

Mental Health: this category should include blogs written under the topic of mental health services.

Go HERE to nominate blogs!
You don't have to be a Social Worker to nominate a blog for these awards - if you read one and like it - go nominate it! And a bonus? I've already found new awesome social work blogs to read and follow! :)

  1. Hi! Thank you so much for your support, I hope everyone enjoys it.

Just a little update, the learning and physical disabilities category has been changed to adult social services category, covering a wider range of social work blogs.

    All the best :)

  2. This is awesome! Thanks for the information. And, you're right; what a great way to find new social work bloggers! And hopefully we can promote the list of nominees and winners, to interest even non-social workers in the genre!
